Cuban Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Bruno Rodriguez arrived in Guatemala
Rodriguez was welcomed at La Aurora International Airport in this capital by Cuban Ambassador Omar Morales, Jose Ramon Ruiz, coordinator of the Cuban medical brigade now working in Guatemala, and Cuban diplomatic personnel in this Central American country.

He has scheduled to be received by Guatemalan Foreign Minister Haroldo Rodas Thursday, and will keep a contact with Cuban doctors working in Guatemala in the evening.

Rodriguez is accompanied by Yiliam Jimenez, Foreign Vice Minister and head of the International Cooperation Department and will go to San Marcos Friday to head the Cuban delegation to the inauguration of the ophthalmologic center.

The center has up-to-date technology and will guarantee free medical attention to hundreds of thousands of people with low incomes.

More than 20 Cuban helpers will work in the center, the third of its kind equipped by Cuba in Guatemala.

Guatemalan Vice President Rafael Espada was grateful to the Cuban government and people for the cooperation to create this new center.

After the inauguration, the Cuban delegation will tour places in Huehuetenango, Totonicapan and Retalhuleu, where Cuban public health personnel is working.

A total of 400 Cuban public health workers are working in 18 of the 22 Guatemalan departments.
