The distinction acknowledges the heroic action of the young firefighter, said Rosario Penton, member of the provincial bureau of the Cuban Communist Party, as she addressed participants at the burial ceremony. She underscored the short but fruitful record of the young firefighter, who was chosen to joined the Provincial Firefighters Command for his merits and skills.
Firefighter Alejandro Cliville was one of the first to arrive at the place in flames, a department store named El Encanto, in downtown Camaguey. A dozen of people were also hospitalized without risk for their lives as a result of the blaze, which was put out in six hours.
The interment ceremony was attended by relatives, friends, firefighters, the first secretary of the Communist Party in the province, government officials and officers with the Interior Ministry.
