In Mexico for Puerto Rico Independence Meeting: Ricardo Alarcón
In his first activity in Mexico, Alarcon met with Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa, accompanied by parliament advisor Miguel Alvarez and the Cuban ambassador to Mexico, Manuel Aguilera de la Paz.

Later in the day Alarcon was visited for talks at his hotel by Santiago Creel and Yeidckol Polevnsky, president and vice president of the Mexican Senate.

One of the first persons arriving in Mexico for the conference was Ruben Berrios, president of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP), as well as Puerto Rican senator Maria de Lourdes Santiago and Fernando Martin, both PIP leaders.

Other early arrivals were former Ecuadorian President Rodrigo Borja, Sandinista leader Tomas Borge and Argentine senator Antonio Cafiero.
