Diaz Pimienta, one of the most brilliant Cuban improvisers of recent years, won the Los Odres First International Poetry Award granted by the Lopez Rejas Foundation in Murcia, Spain.
Pimientas book "Fiesta de Disfraces" (Costume Party) received the top award from a jury presided over by philologist, academic and writer Gregorio Salvador Caja, and that also included writers Jose Maria Alvarez, Horacio Vazquez-Rial and Emilio Torne Valle.
Amado del Pino.A wire from the Cuban News Agency points out that for his part, Amado del Pino, a journalist, playwright and contributor to many Cuban publications, received the Miguel Hernandez International Journalism Award from the Miguel Hernández Foundation.
Del Pino received the award for his article "Caminando con Miguel Hernandez" (Walking with Miguel Hernandez) published last May by La Jiribilla online magazine.
