The 7th Ibero American Congress of Science, Technology and Gender concludes in the Cuban National Hotel.
At the 7th Ibero American Congress of Science, Technology and gender held in Havana, Bernard presented these important projects to create effective strategies in a geographical region prone to disasters that increase as a result of global warming.

The first investigation will analyze to what point is the focus on gender taken, or not taken, in systems of management of risks in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominica and Belize.

On the other hand, three studies are made on the distinction between male and female actors in the creation of alternatives to adapt to climate change in Surinam, Cuba and Jamaica.

Ignoring the talent and capacity of women in the search of solutions to these catastrophes for reasons of culture will not lead us to a sustainable development, the researcher explained.

She explained that the stereotypical roles of men and women often prevent recovery and aid to the victims of disasters, for example, when only men rescue those isolated by floods.

"Environmental policies and battles against poverty should consider women as agents in determinant changes since the effects of climate change equally affect men and women," Bernard stressed.

The 7th Ibero American Congress of Science, Technology and Gender concludes today in the Cuban National Hotel and had the participation of delegates from Spain, Venezuela, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, among others.
