International Expert Recognizes Effectiveness of Cuban Literacy Method

Mariano Jabonero, Director of Coordination and Development of this organization praised the effectiveness of the islands literacy method 'Yo si puedo (Yes, I Can), that has helped nearly 450,000 Bolivians to learn to read and write.
According to official figures, as of January 2008, 112 out of the 327 Bolivian municipalities have been declared free from illiteracy.
In this respect, Jabonero told Prensa Latina news agency that his organization appreciates the commitment of the Bolivian government to the literacy campaign in that South American nation and added that they will promote future cooperation.
In this regard, he announced the signing of an agreement with the Education Ministry that will guarantee technical support and training programs for youths and adults.
"This agreement will strenghthen the National Literacy Program promoted by the government of Evo Morales since March 2006," Jabonero stressed.
