TripAdvisor, one of the bodies that grant the award, is the largest tourism website. Their awards represent the views of millions of tourists, said its executive director, Steve Kaufer.
In a letter to the general manager of Paradisus Rio de Oro, Juan Tuñon, the TripAdvisor communications director, Michele Perry, explained that the winners of the 2008 Choice Travelers are selected for their great service and extraordinary values.
The digital website receives about 25 million visitors per month, who issued five million views on about 250,000 hotels and attractions throughout the world.
The winners of the Travelers Choice reach that status through a combination of popularity ratings from travellers, granted by particular characteristics of the building and its services.
The final decision is given by a jury that determines the level of the travellers satisfaction from various sources, including travel articles and opinions found on the internet.
