Plastic arts to celebrate the triumph of the Revolution
According with the celebration for the 49th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, there were three important plastic art exhibitions inaugurated at the Pabellón Cuba in this city.

Abel Prieto, minister for Culture and the vice-ministers for that field Fernando Rojas and Rubén del Valle presided the inauguration of the exhibitions Barbudos, (Bearded men), La Revolución Cubana en los años 60 (The Cuban Revolution during the sixties) as well as the exhibition of nine silk screens by Wifredo Lam.

Barbudos, made up by twelve great scale pictures that recreates the happiness, definition and hope of the moments after the triumph, opened the doors of the exhibition site to hundreds of people.

The pieces, mixed techniques over gigantic pieces of paper or cloth, are pieces made by Javier Guerra, an artist who proposes a self-assured dialogue with the spectator through important themes.

We feel deeply proud for having been part and witnesses of the great events of those changing days, expressed the photographer Roberto Salas during the opening of La Revolución Cubana en los años 60.

Made up by fifteen of the most revealing and known photos of the Cuban people, the exhibition was also presented by the photographer Liborio Nobal and Diana Díaz, the daughter of Alberto Díaz Gutiérrez (Korda).

El Quijote de la Farola (The Quixote of the Streetlamp), La entrada de Fidel a La Habana (Fidels entrance into Havana) and Guerrillero Heroico (Heroic Guerilla Leader) are some of the pictures that were presented together with some others that illustrate moments such as the alphabitization campaign and the nationalization of the U.S. companies in the country.

The presentation of that exhibition ended up with the news of the ending of the book Korda: un lente revolucionario (Korda, a revolutionary lens) which will see the light during the year 2008, the year of the 80th anniversary of the birth of that famous Cuban photographer.

Another proposal from plastic art consisted in the exhibition of nine silk screens by Wifredo Lam, together with the screening of the documentaries Ya era otoño en París (It was already autumn in Paris) by Jorge Aguirre and Wifredo Lam by Humberto Solás.

Music, theater, dance and cinema are some of the arts that will be added, throughout the country, to the intense cultural program in tribute to the 49th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
