Call to paint and to read about Martí
The José Martí Birth Place Museum is calling two competitions in honour of the 155 anniversary of the birth date of José Martí. The first competition is in plastic creation ad is called "Pinta mi amigo el pintor" (My friend the painter is painting). The second competition is of interpretation of Martí poetry and is called "Verso amigo" (Friendly Verse). Both events are for children and teenagers and will be divided in three age groups: 5 - 8 years old, 9 - 12 years old and 13 - 16 years old.

The painting competition includes drawing and painting expressions and will have technical and procedure freedom. The topics will be related with the birth place of José Martí, his life and work and the works should be presented in 50 x 75 cm card or paper and should be sent to the seat of the institution at 314 Leonor Perez street between Egido and Picota, Habana Vieja. The works can be delivered until the 5th of January and the results will be known the 26th of January 2008.

On the other hand, the participants at the poetry interpretation competition should select a poem written by José Martí or dedicated to him. The inscriptions in the competition will be made in the seat of the institution until the 14th of January 2008. The award ceremony will be held on January 19th at the birth place of Martí.
