Central Cuba Reports Increased Tourist Arrivals
The central Cuban province of Villa Clara has reported an increase in tourist arrivals this year.

Preliminary statistics show that 121,000 foreign vacationers visited the region from January to December 20, accounting for an increase of nearly 43,500 tourists who visited the attractive northern keys, especially the islets of Santa María, Las Brujas and Ensenacho, an area that offers more than 2,000 hotel rooms.

Local tourism authorities pointed out that facilities are ready to welcome vacationers during the ongoing peak season, which closes in April 2008.

The enlargement of the Abel Santamaría International Airport allows providing a excellent services to up to 600 travelers per hour, mainly from Canada, Great Britain and Italy.

Villa Clara has more than 2,700 hotels rooms and offers historic, cultural and ecological options, especially on the hills of Guamuhaya, Remedios and Santa Clara.
