The longest changüí of the world will be made in Guantánamo Sunday 23rd of December from 10pm, as part of the activities of the third Elio Revé Matos National Festival that starts on the 20 and is dedicated to that traditional rhythm born in eastern Cuba.

Changüí y cumbancha Ahora Sí, Gran Descarga is the program that will gather at the Changüí Chito Latamblé House at the Loma del Chivo neighbourhood, the participating traditional groups from several Cuban provinces among them Santiago de Cuba, Sancti Spíritus, Granma and Las Tunas.

The popular orchestras Elio Revé y su Charangón, directed by Elito Revé and the Odelkis Revé orchestra will take part at the festival that starts on Thursday 20th with a gala and a dance concert by the Guantanamo orchestra Onda cubana, at the Pedro A. Pérez Square of this city, almost one thousand kilometres east from Havana.

The Festival will be dedicated to Evelia Noblet (Bella), a changüí dancer in her 80 birth date, Guillermo Mustelier (Bulé), 85, the bongo player Andrés Fistó Cobas (Tabera), 65 and the group Estrellas campesinas from Felicidad de Yateras in their 55 anniversary of their creation.

During the festival will also be made the colloquium Rafael Inciarte Simientes, as well as changüí showings, at the halls of the monument of the Mariana Grajales Revolution Square and will include the presentation of a record of the group Ariel y su Mezclán.

According to the program made public t the Luis (Lilí) Martínez Griñán Music Provincial Centre other activities will be made at the Elio Revé park, the House of Musical Promotions La Guantanamera (traditional meetings and nengones) and at the Changüí House.

The party will also take place at the municipalities of Yateras, El Salvador and Manuel Tames and there will be record presentations in other locations of the Guantanamo city.

The Festival carries the name of Elio Revé (Guantánamo, 23rd June 1930 - Havana, 24th July 1997), a relevant figure of the Cuban music.
