Santiago, Cuba Ready for Chavez
The people of Santiago de Cuba are organizing a massive act to welcome Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday, Granma daily reported Thursday.

On his first stay in that eastern Cuban city, Chavez will be received by thousands of students and workers, amid an environment of great enthusiasm, with locals already decorating plazas and streets.

The Venezuelan leader arrived in Havana on Wednesday to attend the fourth Petrocaribe Summit, to open sessions Friday in the province of Cienfuegos.

Petrocaribe emerged after a meeting in the Venezuelan city of Puerto La Cruz on June 29, 2005. This session is expected to be attended by 12 of the 14 chiefs of State of the member countries, such as Dominican Republic's Leonel Fernandez, and Haiti's Rene Preval, who are already in Cuba.
