Great expectation has created the visit of the Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, to Hamilton, Canada, where she will be received by Evelyn Hart, artistic director of the Canadian Ballet Youth Ensemble.

International media announced that from next 13th until the 16th of this month the Cuban National Ballet directed by the legendary dancer, will present to this public the play Nutcracker, created by the Russian composer Peter Iliych Tchaikovsky, a function with which usually the worlds ballet companies start the festivities of the New Year.

The welcome to Alicia Alonso was expected on the 8th and later on the symphonic orchestra of the city of Hamilton offered a concert in tribute to the Cuban dancer and to the emblematic group she directs.

From the 10th up to the 13th the Cuban National Ballet will prepare work sessions for children and young dancers of the Canadian Young Ballet.

In those days Alonso will be in the podium of the Great Hall of the Hamilton Place theatre, where she will dictate the opening conference of the series Legends of Ballet.

Meanwhile, in Cuba other dancers will offer two presentations at the Sauto Theatre in Matanzas, where they will premiere the ballet Napoli (scenes of the III Act).

The program with which they will end the 2007 national tours also includes Dionaea, Desnuda luz del amor, and the pas de deux Diana and Acteón and El corsario.

Napoli, with the choreography of Hans Bec and August Bournoville is the master piece of the later and the most popular Danish ballets. This time it will be assumed by the dancers Marlen Fuerte, Analucía Prado, Annie Ruíz, Gretel Morejón, Yilian Pacheco, Jessica León, Regina Hernández, Jaciel Gómez, José Iglesias and Walter Gutiérrez.
