The campaign to celebrate Wilfredo Lam's 105th birth anniversary Wednesday through Saturday will be a tribute from the country's several institutions to his artistic legacy and social commitment, the National News Agency reported.

The program includes the screening today of biographic documentaries Ya era otoño en Paris by Jorge Aguirre, and Wilfredo Lam by Humberto Solas at the National Fine Arts Academy in San Alejandro.

Also on the list is the display Simplemente Lam by Ramon Martinez Grandal at the Photographic Library of Cuba Thursday with the painter's 15 photos, and some snapshots of the Third World author along with other current Cuban figures of his time.

Also exhibiting are a single work by Lam entitled Abalocha at the FEU House (Federation of University Students), exhibitions of works by young painters, sale of art books, a troubadour concert, and photos of the artist from the Wilfredo Lam Contemporary Art Center.

The creator of several Latin American classic paintings like La jungla and La silla not only maintained an aesthetic dialogue with avant-garde painters of the moment, but also drank in from humanist ideas of his time.

Wilfredo Lam was born on December 8, 1902 and died on September 11, 1982.
