Cuba celebrates Saturday the World AIDS Day with diverse actions of promotion and prevention of the disease that affects to more than 40 million people in the World.

This year the Caribbean island dedicates the ephemeris to the group of volunteers that works in the prevention of the pandemic, created in 1986 with the appearance of the illness in the country and integrated by people that cohabit with the virus.

A wire from the Cuban News Agency points out that at this moment Cuba has thousands of volunteers dedicated to the prevention of that terrible disease. Students, workers and housewives joined to the initial group to act as promoters and consultants in labor and teaching centers, as well as in several institutions.

As part of the activities for the date there will be a concert at Mariana Grajales Park, in Havana, with the performance of the musical group Gitano, one of the most active in the works for the prevention of the pandemic this year and there will also be a concert at Sala Covarrubias, in the National Theater of Cuba, among other activities.

The Caribbean nation is one of the countries with lowest rate of AIDS in the World, due to the quality of the system of public health and the work of prevention.

This ephemeris, proposed by the World Health Organization, is welcomed in all the continents, and as in the initial stages, UN AIDS calls to unite to the international effort against the illness.
