Unionists from Puerto Rico, Argentina, Galicia, Uruguay, Mexico, Ecuador, France, Venezuela and Cuba advocated for fully exercising energy sovereignty, mainly in oil, electricity and water.
The International Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Forum, concluded in this capital Wednesday, also spoke out for the
creation of an energy front in the area made up of legislators, students, grass-roots movements, unionists and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
Antonio Leon, general coordinator of the International Committee and president of the National Energy and Oil Union in Venezuela, stated that
to put natural resources at the service and development of the peoples is a priority.
The forum also called the First Caribbean Energy Meeting and the First World Energy Workers Meeting, to be run in Caracas next year.
Participants in the event supported the constitutional revolutionary process taking place in Venezuela, led by President Hugo Chavez.
