Division General Sergio del Valle Jimenez, Cuban Republic Hero, Passed Away

The Cuban people will pay tribute to Division General Sergio del Valle Jimenez, who died in this capital, Granma newspaper reported Friday.
In July 1957, Del Valle was a physician and soldier of the Rebel Army, an armed force of the 26th of July Movement led by President Fidel Castro who ended the Fulgencio Batista regime (1952-1958).
He concluded the Cuban liberation war with captain degree and after the January 1, 1959 revolutionary triumph, he was promoted to the position of Commander, the daily states.
He was founder of the Cuban Communist Party, deputy to the Peoples' Power National Assembly and member of the Council of State, Del Valle was also an Interior Minister (1968-1979) and Health Public Minister (1979-1986).
His burial will be carried out Saturday at the Revolutionary Armed Forces pantheon in the Havana's Colon cemetery.
