Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister Fernando Araújo Monday thanked Cuban Government "collaboration" and Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez's "arrangements" regarding peace negotiations between Colombian authorities and rebel forces in that country.

Araújo, who arrived on Sunday in Cuba, said that his visit is aimed at "strengthening relations with Cuba... in an atmosphere of respect, fraternity, and cooperation," in spite of "different models within which we develop our activities."

"We have always found, in the Cuban government, great understanding of the Colombian affairs and strong desire of collaborating in the solution of problems in which we have requested Cuba's collaboration," Araujo said.
