The mission, led by Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and Esteban Lazo Hernandez, members of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, toured six territories, Granma daily informed.
Severe rains in the last 15 days have affected the Cuban region from Camaguey to Santiago de Cuba provinces, causing floods, telephone interruptions, and damages to crops and houses.
The daily added the governmental commission also visited the evacuation centers, observed the levels of water in the reservoirs, listened to reports by local authorities, and talked to hundreds of residents.
The information gathered allowed to assess actions in the affected zones to counteract the damage, and corroborated the spirit of solidarity among locals.
The aid for the affected territories will be fixed according to the country's economic possibilities, the source added.
