Casa de las Américas of Cuba honoured by its integrating character

Casa de las Américas was founded in April 1959, just four months after the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, as an space for meeting and dialogue from different perspectives within a renovating ideas environment.
This organism carries out non-governmental activities aimed to develop and to Wide the sociocultual relations with the peoples of Latin America, the Caribbean and the rest of the world, pointed out Roberto Zurbano, director of the Publishing Fund of Casa de las Amèricas ,.
"This institution has contributed to impede that the cultural ties among Cuba and the rest of the world would be cut off", appointed Zurbano after having referred to Casa de las Americas ` early moments.
In the same extent, this 12th edition paid a great tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara, by honouring his great sensibility to the Latin American problems.
It was also remarked that at the end of this year, commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the assasination of the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter, several publishings on his life and work will be launched.
