Cuba celebrates Benny More birthday
Cuban musicians remembered renowned singer and composer Benny More on his 88th birthday, although commemoration activities began on August 19.
The record company named after him organized the Hoy como ayer Gala at Ali Bar, a night club where Benny was a staple artists, and where outstanding artists will be decorated.
Among them are the late Rafael Lay, founder of Aragon orchestra, and singer Enrique Bonne, said Dulce Maria Rojas, member of the organizing committee.
The program involved the workshop Thinking of Benny (Pensar en el Benny), that approached impact of his music in Latin America, and a concert.
Born Aug 24, 1919 in Cienfuegos, central Cuba, Bartolome More Gutierrez is considered one of the most important Cuban musicians of all times whose broad repertoire has been a legacy for several generations after him.
