Cuba shows its advances in Psicoballet
Cuba showed its experiences in mental health, during the International Conference PSICOHABANA 2007, that was held last week at the Psychiatric Hospital of Havana.

Among the achievements in this field it is worth mentioning the Psicoballet experience, a therapeutic method that starts from ballet, dance and psychology. The method aims to deal with the psychological and emotional imbalances.

Georgina Fariñas, who is in charge of the project, explained to the press, that the mentioned therapy is orientated to people with special needs derived from emotional, mental, motor and sensorial disorders.

Among other achievements and advances in mental health, Cuban will show the participants of the event, its advances in occupational therapy and in rehabilitation, experiences applied since 1962 at the Psychiatric Hospital.

These therapies are based in the link the patient does with the work, sport, recreation and culture.

Lorenzo Somarriba, director of the HPH and president of the organizing comitee of the Conference , explained that the debates of the meeting will cover clinical psychiatryand psycology and forensic psychiatry and psycology.

At the same time, in the four days the conference will analyze topics, such as drug dependency, drug therapies of the mental disorders, rehabilitation of the psychiatric patient and nursery.

With the slogan, To Humanize the Mental Health: A Permanent Challenge, the scientific meeting will also be the proper place for the Regional meeting of the Classification Association of the World Psychiatry.
