The actions of 60 Cuban doctors who arrived here Saturday will noticeably improve health care in Luanda municipalities, said Angolan Public Health provincial director Vita Bemba Sunday.

The presence of Cuban specialists is included in a cooperation agreement between the governments of Cuba and the provincial government of Luanda.

Cuban doctors will start their work immediately in the municipalities of Cacuaco and Viana, and later they will spread to another four municipalities.

There are specialists in general surgery, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, and anaesthesiology.

In his welcome words, Bemba pointed out the population will enjoy qualified medical attention at their own houses. Before this, they had to go to very distant places to receive it.

He notified that at request of the local authorities, more Cuban doctors might arrive in the next months, to cover the medical attention of new residential areas.

The Cuban doctors brigade travelled in a Cubana de Aviacion plane, a flight that was not made since the last group of internationalist forces left Angolan national territory in 1991.
