Over forty Cuban artists will be meeting this week to pay one out of the many tributes to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two outstanding personalities of the Mexican world-wide recognized painting.
This activity takes place on the occasion of Kahlos 100th birthday and Riveras 50th anniversary of his death.
The tribute has been entitled: "Frida and Diego, voices of the Earth", and will last 'till November.
The opening day will be July 6, on Fridas birthday, with a Visual Arts exhibition, where will be work arts of Cuban outstanding painters like Zayda del Rio, Nelson Domínguez, Cosme Proenza, Vicente R. Bonachea and Eduardo Roca (aka "El Choco").
The sample entitled "From Eva's skin, with Adam's eyes", will be exhibited in two rooms of "Benito Juárez" House, located in Old Havana, and will be divided into two parts.
The sample will be integrated by paintings, engravings and pictures reflecting the life and work of the two artists and what they represented for the Latin Americans.
In this collective exhibition, that will last until August, will also participate Alejandro Reyes, Marcos Guerra and Ney Díaz, from the Dominican Republic.
The event that Cuba dedicates to these two famous personalities, considered paradigms of the Visual Arts in Latin America, also includes two contests, childrens creative workshops, several lectures, a movie exhibition, and the inauguration of a collective mural.
The event will be attended by a delegation headed by the researcher Teresa del Conde and two -out of four- Fridas pupils.
Since June has been taking place in Mexico a wide program to remember these two artists on the occasion of their anniversaries. Other Latin American nations like Chile have joined this tribute.
