This event promotes the open and outspoken dialogue among experienced communications' specialists, aimed at transmitting the truth from the war theater of operations, in a peaceful way -highlights the call made public in Havana.

The Encounter will tackle from diverse angles how war correspondents should assume their task of reporting about the wars in the world, as well as its peculiarities, development and possible solutions.

It will be an exceptional opportunity that will make the participants reflect on their work, under the premise that those who report, putting their lives at risk, do it on behalf of peace -states the text.

The event calls for news photographers, cameramen, writers, film producers, scholars, researchers, historians, professors, philosophers, politicians, artists and intellectuals in general.

Some relatives of the journalists who have died in combat were also invited to participate, as well as peace lovers and those interested in making a serious analysis on the media's role during world conflicts.

The main theme chosen for the 5th Encounter of War Correspondents, summoned by the War Correspondents' Club belonging to the Cuban Journalists Association, is going to be an analysis of the role of the written media as a war weapon, lie as a media instrument and the modern battle in cyberspace.

The program will also include some presentations referring to Internet as a support for a war vision, the so-called low-intensity conflicts in the Third World, possible war scenarios for new conflicts and what to do to avoid them.
