The 28th edition of the International New Latin American Cinema Festival, scheduled to run in Havana next December, not only will open its stages for the best film production of the continent, but also, as in previous Decembers, will update Cuban moviegoers with the most important sample on contemporary cinema.

So, and among the "main attractions" is Pedro Almodóvars "Volver", film that represents Spain in the battle of the Oscar Awards and that allowed the reencounter of the filmmaker with one of his muses, Carmen Maura.

But this film has also earned young Spanish actress Penelope Cruz several laurels like the 2006 Best Actress Award, at the 10th Annual Hollywood Awards, in which she won over all the Anglo-Saxon actresses, for the excellence of her role in "Volver".

This film is the virtual consecration of Penelope Cruz, who has been nominated for the Oscars for her performance in Almodovars film and has consecrated her as one of the most mature movie artists worldwide, critics say.

With more than three decades of professional work in the Spanish cinema and only five years in North America, Penelope Cruz is rated as one of the most recognized Ibero American actresses, because she has achieved the best thing of her filmography and work in the Ibero American cinematography under the direction of Almodovar, in films like "Todo sobre mi madre" (Everything about My Mother), multiawarded film likewise applauded by the audience and critics on the island.
