Viva Cuba
The film "Viva Cuba," Juan Carlos Cemata, won the Golden Award for best film at the International Children s Film Festival in Cairo.

Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk A-Hosni closed the event, which had 23 contending films from 16 countries, at the Grand Theater of the Opera House.

The film's "excellent production and topic" also earned the Children's Choice Most Popular Award, beating "Teenager's Admission" (US), "The Great Zambini" (Spain) and "Little Princess" (UK).

"Viva Cuba" is the story of two children defending their friendship despite family rivalry, and their right to have a say in decisions involving their lives.

This film also won the Grand Prix Ecrans Juniors at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
