Vietnam Delegation
Central Committee member of the Cuban Communist Party Rolando Alfonso Borges, reaffirmed friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Viet Nam and Cuba at a reception given to a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) delegation in Havana on Wednesday.

Borges, who is also the head of the Communist Party of Cubas Ideological Department, warmly welcomed the delegation led by VNAs Acting General Director Nguyen Quoc Uy.

At the meeting, Borges highlighted the achievements made by Cubans during national construction and defence despite US hostility and trade blockade.

He said the Cuban people were loyal and had trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and their leader Fidel Castro.

They were also consistent in supporting the revolutionary cause, particularly at a time when President Fidel Castro was convalescing and the country was being led by Vice President Raul Castro, Borges said.

VNAs Acting General Director Nguyen Quoc Uy briefly described Viet Nams socio-economic situation and VNAs roles and tasks at the time.

Uy underlined the affection and respect of the Vietnamese people towards Cuba, and Fidel Castro in particular. He expressed hope that the president would soon recover and continue to lead his country.

On the same day, Uy held talks with the President of the Prensa Latina News Agency, Francisco Gonzalez Garcia. The two sides briefed each other on the implementation of bilateral agreements and affirmed their determination to strengthen and expand relations between the two agencies.

They stressed the importance of professional cooperation in publishing and production for television for mutual economic benefit.
