UN Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat, Anna K. Tibaijuka, arrived on Sunday in Havana for an official visit in which she will meet with Cuban authorities to exchange experiences in urban management.

"After 30 years, this is my second trip to Cuba and I am sure that I will find a lot of progress," said the UN official of Tanzanian origin who is responding to an invitation by the Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry and the National Housing Institute.

Tibaijuka noted that Cuba is one of the few countries in the world that has achieved good results in the construction of houses for low-income people, a program from which - she said - no one has been left aside.

"During my stay until next Wednesday, we will know about all the new works currently being carried out and all the projects relating to human settlements and their further development," she explained.

The distinguished visitor was welcomed at the José Martí International Airport by the President of the Cuban Parliament, Ricardo Alarcón, and by Graciel Rodríguez, President of the Cuban Institute of Planning.
