Pablo Milanés
For the first time, Cuban musician Pablo Milanes, one of the founders of the New Troubadour Movement, has won two Latin Grammies, including for Best Singer-Songwriter.

Milanes triumphed in that category for the CD "Como un campo de maiz" (Like a Corn Field), in which he included songs written when he was 18-21 years old; a reflection of his happiness, illusions and frustrations at that time.

The artist also won in the category of Best Tropical Traditional Album with "AM PM Lineas paralelas" in collaboration with Puerto Rican Andy Montanez.

Another Cuban, Gonzalito Rubalcaba, was awarded recognition for the Best Latin Jazz Album with "Solo."

Cuban musicians are a permanent presence in the Grammy nominations since the very beginning, and have always been the most absent from the award ceremonies as the US government insists on denying them entrance to that country.
