El Benny
Cuban director Jorge Luis Sánchez won't be able to travel to Miami this weekend to attend the premiere of "El Benny", after the US government denied him the visa.

"We looked forward to going to this Festival.", declared the Cuban film-director to EFE News Agency.

According to Jorge Luis Sanchez, the reason why the US Interest Section denied his visa and that of the film-producer, was that "they didn't fulfill the requisites to enter in the North Amercan territory."

Sánchez, who makes his debut as director of long-films with this movie, dealing with the last years of the famous Cuban musician, doesn't understand this decision, because he considers that "culture has nothing to do with politics."

"I wouldve wanted to be there, representing my country and exchanging with the public, but I will have to wait to be told", he pointed out.

Now the Cuban film-director is participating in the Movie Festival of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) with his popular film, that next month will inaugurate the Havana Film Festival of New York.

"Ive been invited to participate in the Film Festival of New York, and we have requested the visa, but we havent received any answer yet" -he added.

Miamis International Movie Festival will be exhibiting "El Benny" on March 10th and 11th, without the presence of any of its Cuban producers.
