The Gaspar Jorge Garcia Gallo award handed in to a report on Cultural Studies

Professors Alicia Martínez and Iralia Llecas, researchers of the Studies Center for the Community Integral Development at the Social Sciences Faculty of the referred University, received the award during the first edition of the contest, that pays homage to the outstanding Cuban profesor on his centennial birthday.
The work was based on a research study, with results of wide impact, made to different regions in Santiago de Cuba, to communities of El Turquino Project, Granma Key, and especially to "Los Hoyos" neighborhood, in Santiago.
The different experiences made possible the defense of five Ph.D, 104 Master thesis on the topic Community Cultural Development, and the publication of dozens of articles in the Cuba and abroad, besides becoming a database for several books, magazines, monographs and reports.
The second edition of Gaspar Jorge García Galló Award was summoned for January, 2008 and its main objective will be awarding the best scientific report of high relevance and best contribution on the topic of current Latin American integration.
