Silvio en Chile

The Cuban singer and songwriter Silvio Rodriguez said he will give a free concert in compensation for the recital called off last March in Talca, Chile, due to the elevated prices charged for the entrance tickets.

Lawyer Eduardo Contreras who represents the artist in the lawsuit established against him in a tribunal of the city of Talca, said that the free concert could take place within the next two years.

"Indeed, in a phone conversation, (Rodriguez) he asked me to make public in todays hearing his will of giving a free concert in Chile and his particular wish is the concert to take place in Talca", added the lawyer.

The concert would be a way of compensating his followers for the recital he decided to call off last March 8 in the municipal gym of Talca, due to the protests raised by the high price of tickets that went from 80 to 115 dollars, said Contreras, informed Notimex.

The company Multimúsica -which organized the tour of the Cuban troubadour in Chile last March - is willing to organize the show after learning about the artists desire of giving a free concert.

Contreras also said that regarding his clients offer, he requested in the court hearing this Monday the suspension of the lawsuit begun against him.

"We have asked the suspension of the hearing, in the hope of materializing this offer to Chile as a way of compensating the city of Talca and those who expected his performance.
