Holguin Concert Band invited to national contest
The concert band from Holguin province has been specially invited to the 23rd National Gathering underway in Bayamo, capital city of the southeastern province of Granma.

This national meeting is dedicated to the 139 anniversary of the foundation of the Concert Band of Bayamo, the institution that play for the first time (June 11, 1868) in the city church the music of Cuba's National Anthem, and that was composed by Pedro "Perucho" Figueredo, who also wrote its verses in October that same year.

Humberto Pino, director of Holguin's Band, said that they will give a concert in June 11th and that they will play several pieces from the band's repertoire as Yolanda by Pablo Milanes, Until Victory for ever -Carlos Puebla's homage to Ernesto "Che" Guevara, and La Guantanamera by Joseito Fernandez, among others.

During this encounter, maestro Humberto Pino will receive La Lira de Plata distinction, granted by Granma's Provincial Government and the Music Center after his 30-year professional career and in the formation of young musicians.
