Havana: A City to Love
The biggest problem in restoring a city is not training experts and technicians, but developing in each of them the will to prevail over any challenge, the awareness of the importance of what they are doing for future generations, said Thursday Dr. Eusebio Leal, Havanas historian, in a keynote address in the main lecture hall of the University of Havana.

Leal advocated the necessity on making the restoration of Havanas Historic District a model at the national level. "Havana is a city that evokes love and special care for its images, contrasts and actuality, he emphasized.

This keynote was part of the second annual conference of social theorists, university professors and students, this time coming together with the objective of sharing knowledge about the technical and scientific complexity of rescuing and redeveloping the historic center of Havana.

In the meeting, Leal discussed the founding of the city and presented the plans of buildings, monuments and plazas that show the evolution of Havana. He also talked about the human and ecological principles of the project of the Historians Office, even detailing plans for the replanting of the trees uprooted by hurricanes.
