Gabriel García Márquez

A retrospective of films based on works by 1982 Nobel prizewinner Colombian Gabriel Garcia Marquez, also known as Gabo, started in this capital from Tuesday to Friday.

The screening, sponsored by the New Latin American Film Foundation, which is presided by the author of One Hundred years of Solitude, is taking place on occasion of his 80th birthday.

The Glauber Rocha hall, from that institution, located in the Havana home where Cuban filmmaker Tomas Gutierrez Alea shot his film "Los sobrevivientes" (The Survivors) in 1978, will be the venue of the season.

Among films are "Cartas en el parque," "Fabula de la bella palomera," "Me alquilo para soñar," "Un domingo feliz," "Milagro en Roma," "Yo soy el que tu buscas" and "Con el amor no se juega."
