Fidel y dirigente chino
President Fidel Castro met Friday afternoon in Havana with Wu Guanzheng, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Wu Guanzheng handed the Cuban leader a warm letter from President Hu Jintao expressing the excellent ties that have been developed between the Communist Parties and governments of China and Cuba.

The conversations lasted an hour and the leaders took an in-depth look into several issues.

Immediately after Wu Guanzhengs meeting with Fidel, the Chinese delegation met with First Vice President Raul Castro for talks on several national and international topics of interest. They highlighted the excellent relations existing between the two parties, governments and peoples.

Wu Guanzheng noted that the Chinese Communist Party and government put great importance on the ties with the Cuban Communist Party and government.

The Chinese official expressed satisfaction over the growing level of economic and commercial relations and gave Raul Castro greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao.

On hand for the meeting were Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and Carlos Lage Davila, both vice presidents of the Council of State and Communist Party politburo members; Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, president of the Cuban parliament and also a member of the politburo; Fernando Remirez de Estenoz, member of the Communist Party Central Committee Secretariat, and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque.

At the end of the meeting the Cuban Communist Party and government officials accompanied Raul Castro and the Chinese delegation for the signing of an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Chinese and Cuban governments. Also signed was a document on Modifications of the Accord between the two countries for the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments.
