Metropolitan Park Havana

The Cuban capital hosted the 6th National Festival on Caribbean Endemic Birds, aimed at raising interest in such an attractive topic for tourism.

As part of the program, experts in biodiversity and fauna from Havana's Great Metropolitan Park gave lectures on that topic.

In addition, the Center of Interpretation of the Havana Forest and the Almendares Park organized trekking expeditions, including bird-watching activities.

The festival is a regional initiative sponsored by the Society for the Study and Preservation of Caribbean Birds, whose goal is to enhance knowledge of the region's endemic fauna.

Experts said that these kinds of festivals are excellent opportunities to take advantage of Cuba's potential to develop bird-watching activities and to protect the local fauna.
