Cuban writer Leonardo Padura is one of the most recognised Latin American authors at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's most important book fair where his work has attracted renewed and growing interest.
Publishers from Mexico, Greece, China, Russia, Britain and Poland obtained distribution rights or showed interest in titles like 'Adios Hemingway' and 'La Neblina del Ayer' where his ability as a mature writer with a polished and distinct style emerge, Cuba's Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Unioverlag, his publisher in Germany, invited him to the Frankfurt Book Fair that promises to open up the global market for his books.
'Adios Hemingway' is a sort of settling of accounts with the literary figure, wherein the egoistical and contradictory Hemingway is corralled by his memories and remorse in the days prior to his suicide.
His book 'La Neblina del Ayer' is a critical look at the 1990s, the most difficult economic period in Cuba since the revolution.
