The Cuban National Ballet, directed by the Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso, will have during this year 2006, important presentations in different parts of the world which include tours through Mexico, Brazil, Spain, England, and Egypt. The presentations will alternate with performances in the Cuban cities of Matanzas, Cárdenas and Santa Clara, besides its regular headquarters at the Great Theater of Havana. Likewise it will get ready for the twentieth edition of the International Ballet Festival of Havana scheduled from October 28th to November 6th.

Since March 13th and until the 24th it will take place the tour through several Mexican cities, while since April 23rd until May 28th Brazil will be the venue. During the Mexican circuit will be performed The Swans Lake, with choreography of Alicia Alonso on the original of Marius Petipá and Lev Ivánov; as well as a concert program that will include Threshold, The Challenge, Majísimo, The Corsair (pas de deux), The Swans Lake (II act), Strange Avis, The Swans Lake (pas de deux of the third act, The Black Swan), and Diana and Acteon.
The leading roles will be interpreted by the first figures of the group, all young talents trained in the Cuban Ballet School. Starting on April 23rd will begin the journey through eight cities of Brazil, where The Magic of Dance will go up on stage, an anthology that collects important moments of the choreographic art from the XIX century, in paradigmatic versions that reflect the respect and creativity with which the Cuban Ballet School faces tradition. Unavoidable titles in the history of classic dance are presented in this program by thorough recreations.
