Cuban companies bet on good quality

Cuba's entrepreneurial sector is betting on excellent quality, as part of efforts to increase the competitiveness of its products and services.

According to specialized sources, 413 Cuban firms have already certified their Quality Management Systems according to the norms set by the International Standardization Organization (ISO).

That number, according to officials from the National Standardization Office, accounts for 13 percent of all Cuban companies.

In that regard, they recalled that standardization contributes to improving the quality and safety of products in the commercial sector at the international level.

In December 2005, 305 Cuban companies had certified the quality of their products and services, so the islands ranked eighth in Latin America, only preceded by Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay and Venezuela.
