Cuban boxer
The Cuban boxing team finished first at the Cup of Nations, held in Baku, after defeating Russia in the match for the title.

The Cuban boxers won six fights, thus taking their revenge from the defeat in the previous edition of the tournament last year.

The Cuban winners were Yan Bartelemí, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Yuriolkis Gamboa, Yordenis Ugas, Inocente Fiss and Odlanier Solís. The latter won his fight when the match was tied to five.

The International Amateur Boxing Federation chose Solís as the best boxer in the tournament. Solís won four fights, three of them in the qualifying stage.

When the Cuban boxers fought against Russia, they had won 31 fights and had lost two, and were leading Group A.
