Just days after winning at the Second ALBA Games in Venezuela, Cuban athletes Yipsi Moreno and Yania Ferrales won their second victories at the South American Track and Field Circuit in Brazil.

Yipsi Moreno, Olympic and World Championship runner-up in the hammer throw, took first place with a 68.97 meter mark to lead a Cuban sweep at the Rio de Janeiro Grand Prix, the same venue for the upcoming Pan American Games in July. Her compatriots Arasay Thondike (65.49) and Yunaika Crawford (64.84) finished second and third.

Just as happened in Uberlandia, Brazil on May 6, Yania Ferrales won the discus sending it 61.15 meters. The Central American and Caribbean champ at Cartegena 2006, defeated her teammate Yarelis Barrios (60.54) and Elisangela Maria Adriano of Brazil (59.30).

The five Cuban athletes that placed in the two events plan to continue training in Brazil in preparation for the Pan American Games with two events scheduled. They compete in Fortaleza on May 16 and in the Grand Prize tournament in Belem on Sunday May 20.
