Volleyball
The islands top 16 female volleyball players and the new coach of the Cuban national team left Thursday for Ecuador where they will carry out a high altitude training camp until April 27. The popular team, whose performance is closely followed by the population, is gearing up for spring tournaments in China and Montreux, Switzerland, in mid-May.

Antonio Perdomo is the squads new head coach, after having worked with the mens team.

The trainers also include Luis Oviedo, recently working as a sports collaborator in Botswana; Luis Felipe Calderon, the previous head coach; and Wilfredo Robinson, a young man with a lot of experience at the Cerro Pelado sports training center in Havana.

The athletes arriving in Ecuador for the tune-up are Captain Yumilka Ruiz, Zoila Barros, Liana Mesa, Yenisey Gonzalez, Daimí Ramírez, Yusleini Herrera, Rosir Calderon, Nancy Carrillo, Kenia Carcaces, Yanelis Santos, Lisbet Arredondo, Rachel Sanchez, Yusidey Silie, Gisel de la C. Silva, Ana Yilian Clegel and Dayesi Maso.
