Unable to deliver a classic "lock" in the match, but with an efficient blocking line in the mid field led by the winger Jaine Colome, the Cuban soccer team played a scoreless game with Guyana in the last phase of the Caribbean Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.

Even though scores are loved and ties are disappointments, the tie has enabled the troop of manager Raul Gonzalez Triana to take part for the fourth time in the upcoming Gold Cup Soccer Championships (June 6-24), which is "the world championship" for many teams of the CONCACAF.

Cuba and Guyana appeared on the field with different objectives. Cuba, with a higher track record in goals, needed only a tie, while Guyana required a clear victory.

The Guyanese team dominated during the first half, with a greater pressure in the mid field, in which the "pliers" of Cuban goalkeeper Odelin Molina were welcome. In over time, Cuba stuck to its counterattack and the defensive actions, with Colome taking control of the ball and Lester More playing an outstanding match, as usual.

Other results of the day were the victory of Guadeloupe over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 1-0, which places the French islands team at the top of its group. Consequently, the Guadeloupes team will have to play Haiti (second in the other group) in the semi-finals, while Cuba will have to head up with the hosting team Trinidad and Tobago.
