Over 1,650 experts from 58 countries meet in this capital starting Monday to exchange experiences on the use of the most modern digital technologies at the 12th International Convention "Informatica 2007."

According to Cuba s Deputy Informatics and Communication Minister Jose Luis Perdomo, the main issue is how to prioritize information and communication technologies at the service of people.

Dr. Jose Maria Anton, from Spain s Virtual Educa, will speak today on Education and Digital Division: a proposal for Ibero-America, while Socorro Hernandez, AIT manager and PDV-IFT of Venezuela, on "Technologic Sovereignty: strategy for the national development."

Other issues of the convention, to be run until February 16, include the impact and perspective of technologies in education and public health, benefits for people and the State, and the situation of open code systems and free software.

Parallel to the meeting is 2nd International Congress of Bioinformatics and Neuroinformatics, 12th Computer Congress on Education, the 6th Congress on Health and the 4th International Symposium on Tele Education (TelEduc 2007) and First Symposium on Informatics and Community.
