Contemporary Dutch Film
Cuba will host its first Contemporary Dutch Film season November 1-11, at Havana's Charles Chaplin Cinema.

The season features 10 films and 10 cartoons among the best Dutch film productions of the past few years, including the film "Character" by Mike van Diem, which recently won an Oscar in the modality of Best Foreign Film.

Exhibit coordinator Olivia Buning told the specialized press that the next seasons will include documentaries focusing on the childhood and the youth, since those are topics at the center of interest of Dutch movie makers.

Eddy Terstall, director of the film "A Friend to Hire", the film that will open the season, said that everything in today's Dutch society is the target of commercialization, so he based his comedy on the issue of friendship by exaggerating commercial relations in that very intimate field of human relations.

Some of the films on program to be enjoyed by the Cuban people include "Grim" by Alex van Warmerdam, "The Twins" by Ben Sombogaart, "The Polish Bride" by Karim Traidi, among others.
