Coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the Barrancas Group, settled in a homonymous rural community in Cubas east, companies of different provinces will converge for the deserved tribute.
The event is sponsored by the Caribbean House in the city of Santiago de Cuba, dedicated for the last 25 years to studying and promoting the transmission of cultural expressions from one generation to another.
In 2004, members of Barrancas were awarded the International Prize conferred by the Caribbean House in recognition for nearly a century of work in defense of Haitian roots, indissoluble part of national identity.
They preserve native dances, celebrations and languages among descendants as well as other elements of the ancestral material culture, mainly the elaboration of food and baking.
