Cuba's tourist industry is boosting a comprehensive investment program to improve the establishments' quality of services and conditions.
Tourist authorities pointed out that nearly 150 million dollars will be invested in the modernization and restoration of hotels.
A similar amount will be allocated to improve extrahotel facilities and build 30 hotels totaling 10,000 rooms.
The project includes the construction of 50 small- and medium-size hotels in buildings of high patrimonial value, and the construction of golf courses, international marinas and theme parks.
The investment will also benefit the country's road infrastructure and water supply and waste systems.
The strategy is also aimed at enlarging the country's major airports to increase tourist arrivals.
