Calcutta book fair
The works of Cuban authors translated into English and Bengali were exhibited at the International Book Fair of Calcutta, India.

The Cuban selection included books by Cuban poets Jose Marti and Nicolas Guillen, as well as collections of speeches by Fidel Castro and Ernesto "Che" Guevara.

According to statistics some 100,000 people visited the Cuban pavilion during the Fair which also exhibited posters on the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in US prisons.

This is the 12th time Cuba has attended Calcutta's International Book Fair which has taken place over the last 30 years. Cuba was the first Latin American country to participate at this major cultural event.

Calcutta was India's capital during the colonial period. Today, it's considered one of the bastions of Bengali culture.

This year, Calcutta Book Fair was dedicated to Argentina.
